The Queen Elizabeth Hospital treats patients to free WiFi

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn NHS Foundation partnered with Purple to deliver a site‑wide guest WiFi and analytics service after discovering that WiFi at the hospital was previously limited to a privately operated coffee shop. The Trust wanted reliable connectivity for patients, visitors and staff (particularly in the Roxburgh Children’s Centre), plus a way to share clinical and operational messages to improve patient experience.

Purple deployed its WiFi and analytics platform onto 375 existing Cisco access points, went live within two weeks, and used a branded splash page to capture user details. The Purple solution has driven measurable impact: over 23,000 people have connected, 5,847 CRM records were collected in the first month, and analytics show 42% of users are aged 45+ (nearly 20% 65+). Purple’s portal supplies weekly KPIs, enables targeted communications (e.g., infection control reminders and vaccination emails) and has helped the Trust build a substantial email database for future outreach.
