St. Modwen - Customer Case Study

St. Modwen, a UK development company managing a £1.7bn property portfolio, bought Kirkby Town Centre and needed a way to boost footfall, support tenants and build a customer database. With no digital customer record and limited insight into visitor behaviour, St. Modwen chose Purple’s WiFi and analytics solution (deployed with Ruckus hardware by Essensys) to provide free town-centre WiFi while capturing demographic and behavioural data.

Purple’s platform and location analytics gave St. Modwen a GDPR-compliant way to capture nearly 9,000 WiFi logins in 18 months, build a marketing database, and switch from costly print to targeted email and social campaigns (25% average open rates). The deployment drove an 838% increase in Facebook likes, a 50% rise in TripAdvisor reviews, a 100% response rate on a 2,500‑respondent micro survey (52% favoured the Christmas lights) and showed 65% repeat visitors recently; Purple’s heat maps and dwell-time data also helped inform tenant decisions and measure the impact of site works.
