Case Study: Splendour in the Grass achieves detailed attendee analytics and reliable free WiFi with Purple

A Purple Case Study

Preview of the Splendour in the Grass Case Study

Purple helps to deliver WiFi to thousands of revellers at Splendour in the Grass 2017

Splendour in the Grass, an annual music and arts festival in New South Wales attracting over 30,000 visitors, needed fast, secure on-site WiFi that also provided reliable audience analytics. After finding previous captive portal systems cumbersome and lacking in reporting, the organisers chose Purple’s captive-portal and analytics platform to deliver an easy-to-deploy solution that could capture the demographic insights required for future planning.

Purple was deployed alongside Ruckus and MicroTik hardware (installed by NetEvent) and provided a wizard-style splash-page and analytics dashboard that captured thousands of lines of customer data. The deployment recorded measurable outcomes — 52% of users logged in via Facebook, 57% of attendees were identified as female, and data collected included emails, age, gender, location, visit frequency and interests — giving Splendour in the Grass actionable insights to inform artist line-ups, marketing and ticketing for future festivals.
