PizzaExpress - Customer Case Study

Pizza Express partnered with Purple (with support from Redcentric) to roll out a free, fast and secure guest WiFi across 470+ restaurants in the UK and Northern Ireland. The challenge was to provide reliable in-venue connectivity while capturing demographic and behavioural data to personalise the diner experience and convert the network into a revenue-generating marketing channel; Purple’s platform was installed across 1,024 Cisco Meraki access points to address this.

Using Purple’s WiFi platform and tailored splash-page campaigns, Pizza Express promoted prize draws and a free-pizza offer to drive app downloads and customer engagement. Since installation Pizza Express has recorded close to 9 million WiFi sessions (Jan ’17–Aug ’19), with 42% of sessions from new visitors, added large numbers of customer records to its CRM, and seen a measurable spike in app downloads — outcomes enabled by Purple.
