The London Borough of Brent engaged Purple (installed by partner Unified Consultancy using Xirrus equipment) to deliver a secure, easy-to-manage public WiFi across civic venues while meeting data protection, content-filtering and digital inclusion objectives. Brent needed reliable visitor reporting that could export to existing mailing systems, improve social media reach, and allow side-by-side comparison with their existing guest network; marketing the new service and pre-registering loan devices were particular operational challenges.

Unified Consultancy deployed Purple’s WiFi solution with Xirrus access points and Purple’s helpdesk pre-registered library devices, while Purple supplied content filtering, visitor analytics and integration capabilities. The solution was rolled out across 14 venues and delivered clear results: Brent Council Facebook page likes increased 51% and Brent Libraries page likes grew 95%, alongside compliance with data-retention requirements and improved user experience.
