Llechwedd Slate Caverns, a Snowdonia attraction drawing about 175,000 visitors a year, needed better visitor interaction, repeat visits and sales, richer customer profiles, and a way to capture large volumes of email addresses and social engagement. To address these goals they partnered with Purple and rolled out a guest WiFi strategy using standard enterprise BT Broadband linked to Open‑Mesh Access Points.
Purple implemented WiFi in key sales areas (café and Emporium) to increase dwell time and stimulate spend, with plans to expand coverage across the site; the campaign also supported email capture and social campaigns. The result was measurable: a 500% increase in Facebook page likes, a 200% rise in average views per post and 175,000 viral impressions linked to posts, likes, shares and comments, demonstrating Purple’s impact on engagement and awareness.
