Case Study: Hinckley Town Centre Partnership achieves town-wide free WiFi and visitor insights with Purple

A Purple Case Study

Preview of the Hinckley Town Centre Partnership Case Study

Hinckley town centre gets connected

Hinckley Town Centre Partnership sought to give residents and visitors free, reliable town‑centre WiFi to support a new mobile app, deliver real‑time messages and gather visitor analytics. The Partnership engaged local integrator Intalect to design a bespoke wireless solution and selected Purple (Purple WiFi) as the guest‑WiFi platform, using social login and analytics to meet their engagement and data requirements.

Intalect deployed MikroTik and Ubiquiti APs mounted on lamp posts to create a wireless LAN covering more than 1.2 km (Regent St, Station Rd, Castle St and the bandstand), while Purple supplies the guest portal, content filtering, e‑shots/SMS, social media tools and demographic/footfall analytics. The combined solution launched as a soft trial ahead of a full roll‑out for local events, was delivered under budget, extended continuous WiFi across the town, and provided the Partnership with accurate age/gender/repeat‑visit data and opt‑in marketing capabilities to better promote Hinckley and its businesses.
