Purple’s solution—deployed by partner Pinacl Solutions and planned to cover the city with up to 150 Ruckus ZoneFlex access points—has delivered super‑fast, content‑filtered public WiFi that supports streaming (e.g., BBC iPlayer), reduces mobile data costs for users, and enables opt‑in communications. The service stores only consented profile and device data in line with UK law, requires login before any device presence is visible, and gives City of York Council a city‑wide platform for visitor information and targeted offers under a long‑term concession.
