Bond location shakes up its WiFi offering by partnering with Purple and Unico Data AG

Schilthorn, the iconic Swiss peak and home of Piz Gloria, faced limited visitor insight and security concerns from its existing guest WiFi—there was no registration, so the marketing team had minimal data on who was connecting and couldn’t ensure legal compliance for user sign-on. Purple was engaged to provide a cloud-based guest WiFi and analytics solution (deployed alongside Zyxel hardware and Unico Data AG) to give Schilthorn secure, compliant access and the visitor intelligence needed for targeted marketing.

Purple installed its platform across five cable car stations, Piz Gloria, the restaurants and Allmendhubel, delivering a branded splash page and social-login options. In six months nearly 18,000 people logged on (about 3,000 users per month), 51% used social media to connect, and Schilthorn’s Facebook likes rose by 2,500 (a 28% increase). The solution provided security, richer visitor insights and social amplification, and Schilthorn is now considering upgrading to Purple Enhanced to access full CRM exports and marketing connectors like TripAdvisor.
