YouGov, a UK market-research firm that runs terabyte-scale MongoDB and Postgres databases to manage hundreds of thousands of panellists and millions of responses, faced a critical performance challenge: even fractions of a second of latency when serving survey pages caused higher abandonment rates and slowed analysis. Their existing SAN was running out of capacity and offered little room for improvement, threatening both panellist engagement and timely insight delivery.

YouGov deployed a Pure Storage FlashArray 405 alongside its SAN, moving intensive workloads to flash to deliver high IOPS, low latency and a 3:3:1 data reduction. The result was far faster, more consistent performance—storage-level response improved (~80%), page-to-page click times dropped by more than 200ms, large survey downloads were halved or better, and database transactions sped up substantially—reducing abandon rates and giving analysts quicker, more predictable access to results.
