Tsb Turns To Flasharray To Improve Capacity And Performance

TSB is a 100% New Zealand‑owned retail bank (founded 1850) with about 500 staff and a 50‑person IT team that runs core banking and online‑banking apps. After years of operational strain from aging storage arrays — capacity limits, IO constraints and heavy manual management — the bank sought a simpler, higher‑performance storage platform to support its production databases, virtual machines and analytics workloads.

After evaluating alternatives, TSB deployed Pure Storage FlashArray for its performance, simplicity and support. Integration was straightforward, IO latency on large databases fell to almost zero and processing ran 3–4× faster; duplication rates were significantly reduced (noted as an improvement from 3.4:1 to 1:1, 8.3:1 including thin provisioning). With 350 VMs on the first array and a second for replication, TSB now enjoys greater capacity, resilience, less day‑to‑day management and improved analytics and customer insight.
