A Pure Storage Case Study
TripPak Services, which provides document capture and processing for motor carriers, was running hundreds of virtual machines (Oracle and SQL OLTP, Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop, app/web servers) on a legacy mechanical SAN that topped out around 7,000 IOPS and regularly produced latency over 300 ms (peaks >1,000 ms). The company needed to handle very high IOPS and throughput, improve VM performance under heavy loads, and scale storage affordably.
TripPak migrated its virtualized databases, servers, and desktops to Pure Storage FlashArray, gaining sustained 200,000 IOPS, sub‑1 ms latency, and roughly 6:1 data reduction. The move cut audit/load times from about 4 hours to 1 hour, delivered roughly a 10× performance improvement, reduced power and rack space, and eliminated storage as a performance bottleneck.
