TripPak Services, which provides document capture and processing for motor carriers, was running hundreds of virtual machines (Oracle and SQL OLTP, Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop, app/web servers) on a legacy mechanical SAN that topped out around 7,000 IOPS and regularly produced latency over 300 ms (peaks >1,000 ms).
