The Glasgow Science Centre Addresses Data Demands of Record Visitor Numbers

Glasgow Science Centre, a leading Scottish educational charity and visitor attraction drawing over 300,000 guests a year, was struggling with data-processing bottlenecks during peak periods. High latency on legacy spinning-disk storage slowed ticketing and SQL-based systems, causing longer queues and a negative impact on the visitor experience.

In mid‑2016 the Centre deployed a Pure Storage FlashArray M//10 for core workloads (ticketing, SQL databases, virtual servers and collaboration tools). The all‑flash solution dramatically increased processing speed, reduced issues to near zero, achieved a 3.4:1 data reduction, consolidated storage into three rack units using just 670W, and enabled migration of 20+ VMs—resulting in smoother operations and improved visitor throughput.
