A Pure Storage Case Study
Banca Popolare di Sondrio is a long-established cooperative bank in northern Italy with more than 330 branches and a growing portfolio of customer-facing and back-office applications. As business and IT demands expanded, the bank needed a modern storage strategy to simplify operations, reduce risk of obsolescence, and improve application availability and user experience without service interruptions.
In May 2017 the bank deployed Pure Storage FlashArray to consolidate and modernize its infrastructure—supporting a 99.6% virtualized server estate—with rapid installation and migration. The solution delivered a 4:1 data reduction ratio, sub-millisecond response times, an 80% reduction in cooling costs thanks to a much smaller footprint, and faster deployment cycles; the bank consolidated 60% of its data on FlashArray with plans to reach 80%, while benefiting from higher performance, greater availability, lower TCO and non-disruptive Evergreen upgrades.
