Smithville Communications, an independent telco delivering gigabit fiber services, depended on a 32TB database and GIS-based plant engineering data to support customer and field operations. Its legacy spinning-disk storage was nearing performance limits, wouldn’t accommodate upcoming VMware and mapping upgrades, and caused backups to take 24–48 hours—forcing costly expansions and risking operational slowdowns.
