Riverview Health Improves Caregiver Productivity with FlashStack

Riverview Health is a regional healthcare network centered on a full-service hospital in Noblesville, Indiana, with 23 outpatient facilities and more than 300 physicians. The IT team needed a fast, predictable platform for its EHR and VMware-based VDI so clinicians could retrieve and update patient records without delays; their previous tiered hybrid storage produced inconsistent performance and high latencies (as high as 8 ms), causing frequent clinician wait times.

Riverview migrated its EHR database to an all‑flash Pure Storage FlashArray and adopted a FlashStack converged infrastructure (Pure Storage, VMware, Cisco UCS). Latency dropped to about 0.5 ms, SQL database IOPS rose ~50% and peak transactions tripled, and the array sustained a mixed workload including hundreds of virtual desktops with no disruption.
