Case Study: University of Texas at Dallas achieves zero storage performance issues and global VDI with Pure Storage

A Pure Storage Case Study

Preview of the UT-Dallas Case Study

Pure Storage Integral To Ut-Dallas’ Global Vdi Initiative

The University of Texas at Dallas School of Engineering needed to modernize student computing by replacing PC labs with flexible desktop virtualization while supporting student and mobile devices. Existing storage and network setups caused unacceptable latency for engineering and 3D applications, host-based flash caches were costly, lacked capacity and scalability, and maintenance windows disrupted student access.

UT Dallas deployed Pure Storage FlashArrays as an all‑flash VDI platform, achieving 8:1 data reduction, near‑instant recomposes, and dramatically reduced latency. Installation and maintenance became fast and non‑disruptive, students gained access to 35+ essential engineering and 3D apps globally, and the school now reports zero storage performance issues with a clear, scalable path for expansion.
