Paratus AMC Turns to Pure Storage for VDI

Paratus AMC, a mortgage asset management firm with operations in the UK, Spain and Germany, was struggling with a heavily virtualized environment of about 200 servers and 250 virtual desktops. Running on mechanical disk arrays, the VDI and SQL Server workloads suffered logon storms and slow response times (peaking around 120ms), causing frequent employee complaints and threatening customer service.

Working with integration partner Softcat, Paratus deployed a Pure Storage FlashArray 405 (5.5TB raw) and rapidly migrated production systems. Latency dropped to about 1ms, data reduction averaged ~7.7:1, rack footprint fell from 24U to 4U, and tasks like adding virtual disks now take seconds instead of 90 minutes; VDI now outperforms traditional desktops, developers and SQL workloads were migrated, and the old HDD arrays were reassigned to disaster recovery.
