A Pure Storage Case Study
Open Technology Solutions (OTS) is a credit-union service organization (CUSO) that manages core banking and related applications for large credit unions. As its virtualized environment grew, adding SSDs to legacy disk‑optimized arrays proved expensive and inefficient; OTS needed predictable, low‑latency performance, higher infrastructure density, simpler management, and effective inline data‑reduction to cut acquisition, power, and floor‑space costs.
After a proof-of-concept, OTS deployed Pure Storage FlashArray and moved about 90% of mission‑critical VMs to the AFA. The FlashArray delivered sub‑millisecond latency and 5–10x throughput, cut batch and backup windows by 50–60%, and achieved overall data‑reduction better than 3.6:1 (up to 8:1), turning 25 TB raw into ~90 TB provisioned. Administration and provisioning times fell sharply, new project lead times dropped 70–80%, and OTS saved roughly $1 million in capex and opex in a year while adopting an all‑flash primary storage strategy.
