A Pure Storage Case Study
Loyola High School of Los Angeles, a 1,200‑student college preparatory school, was pushing a move to virtual server and desktop infrastructure to support Mac clients and graphics‑heavy coursework, but its legacy spinning‑disk storage was causing high latency and slow database access that threatened the VDI rollout. The situation became urgent when the storage vendor abruptly folded, leaving the IT team without support and needing a quick, reliable replacement.
Loyola installed a Pure Storage FlashArray — selected for its all‑flash performance, competitive price and Evergreen upgrade program — and had it up in about 30 minutes. The result: provisioning times for virtual desktops were cut in half, latency and slow database access disappeared, read/reboot and backup speeds improved, and data reduction reached 9.8:1 on VDI (6.5:1 overall), while simplified management freed IT staff to focus on higher‑value work.
