Legacy Storage Infrastructure Hampering Business Productivity

Nemzeti Infrastruktúra Fejlesztő Zrt. (NIF) is Hungary’s state-funded agency responsible for national roads and railways. Its legacy spinning-disk storage was complex to manage, I/O‑constrained and near capacity, causing degraded performance for core applications (SAP, SQL, Oracle, Hyper‑V) and forcing time-consuming workarounds that drained limited IT resources.

NIF deployed a Pure Storage FlashArray//M20 (10TB raw) and migrated 13TB in two weeks while using only 50% of actual capacity. The FlashArray’s Always On data reduction and Pure1 management delivered faster test environment provisioning, a 2x improvement in SAP processing, 1.5 GB/s file‑server writes, 4× improved deduplication, compressed Exchange from 4TB to 700GB, ~90% smaller storage footprint and ~80% lower power use—freeing IT to focus on projects like a new DR site and significantly reducing TCO.
