John Muir Health Modernizes Care Management With New Storage Infrastructure From Pure Storage

John Muir Health, a major East Bay healthcare system with two hospitals and a 900‑physician network, faced a fragmented, costly, multi‑vendor storage environment that complicated management and threatened performance as databases and Tier‑1 apps (notably Epic/Caché) grew. IT leaders wanted a simpler, scalable solution that would eliminate storage bottlenecks and reduce administrative overhead.

They selected Pure Storage and deployed FlashArray and FlashBlade systems, migrating Epic, PACS, virtual servers and VDI. The result: consistent sub‑0.5 ms read latency and write cycles under five seconds, VDI concurrency growing to 800–900 users with logins at or below 12 seconds, 10.7:1 data reduction, faster provisioning and much simpler storage administration—delivering better performance, lower costs and strong scalability.
