Farm Credit Mid‑America, a customer‑owned agricultural lender with more than $20 billion in assets, 95 branches and nearly 100,000 customers across Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee, needed a high‑performance storage platform to support a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) for mobile staff and remote underwriters. Their legacy disk‑based system couldn’t handle the intense disk I/O and bootstorms VDI can create, so the bank sought an ultra‑reliable flash solution to deliver fast, consistent access to applications and data.

After a proof‑of‑concept with Hogan Consulting, Farm Credit Mid‑America deployed Pure Storage FlashArray with VMware Horizon View. Installation was quick, management time dropped to about 5% of previous effort, and Pure’s deduplication and compression yielded a 15:1 data‑reduction ratio, eliminating capacity concerns. The result: markedly faster desktop recomposes, cloning and application uploads, seamless non‑disruptive upgrades, improved end‑user performance and the ability to pursue additional Tier‑1 workloads and rapid disaster‑recovery replication.
