A Pure Storage Case Study
Castilleja School, a century-old all-girls school in Palo Alto that emphasizes technology-rich learning, was hampered by a legacy hybrid storage system. Inconsistent caching caused slow, unpredictable access to student records and instructional apps, backups were limited to overnight, and constrained capacity prevented rapid deployment of new tools—creating performance complaints and ongoing management burden for IT.
Replacing the hybrid arrays with a Pure Storage all-flash FlashArray delivered consistent low-latency performance, eliminated storage-related user complaints, and enabled multiple daily backups without impacting production. The school achieved about 4:1 data consolidation (2 TB → ~500 GB), gained ample room to grow, reduced daily management overhead, and freed IT to focus on security and new initiatives such as VDI and faster app rollouts.
