KPN, a major telecom provider, faced growing competition that exposed operational silos, manual processes, and inconsistent service quality. To stay competitive and improve efficiency, the company needed to modernize infrastructure workflows and standardize server management.

KPN implemented Puppet Enterprise with Splunk and centralized code on GitHub to adopt infrastructure-as-code; today they manage about 10,000 servers (7,500 nodes) across 33 Puppet masters with 251 modules. The change delivered faster troubleshooting, reduced data silos, quicker product delivery, increased data collection, standardized base profiles, and improved compliance for standard server modules.
