Getty Images, the global leader in visual content with more than 180 million assets across GettyImages.com and iStock.com, faced an IT patchwork from years of acquisitions: separate budgets, multiple legacy systems, different hardware/software stacks, and inconsistent configuration management that left teams “fighting fires” and maintaining multiple Puppet versions, repos, and workflows.

Getty standardized and automated its infrastructure with Puppet Enterprise to consolidate workflows, enforce configuration parity across dev/staging/production, and enable test‑driven development and continuous deployment. The move accelerated feature testing and scaling, improved reliability, and enabled rapid security remediation (e.g., fixing Heartbleed in hours), and today ~1,500 nodes are managed centrally with plans to expand, leading to better business decisions and faster time to market.
