A Puppet Case Study

Preview of the Fannie Mae Case Study

Fannie Mae cuts environment delivery time by a third with Puppet

Fannie Mae, a U.S. financial services corporation, needed to drastically speed up its infrastructure delivery to support its mortgage services. Their challenge involved lengthy manual processes, where creating fully configured development environments took three to six months via IT tickets. To accelerate its DevOps transformation, Fannie Mae turned to Puppet for automation and configuration management.

Using Puppet Enterprise integrated with VMware vRealize Automation, Puppet provided the automation needed for self-service, consistent environment delivery. This solution enabled Fannie Mae to stand up hundreds of fully configured environments in a third of the previous time. The results included saving an estimated $60 million on a major project, reducing deployment time by at least 10 weeks, and unified management of over 11,000 nodes with Puppet.
