A Puppet Case Study
Encore Technologies, an IT automation and DevOps provider for enterprise clients managing mixed Windows and Linux legacy environments, was spending large amounts of engineer time on manual, repetitive tasks—bug patching, troubleshooting and one-off provisioning—that were error-prone and slowed innovation. Although Puppet provided continuous configuration enforcement, Encore needed an additional tool to orchestrate ad‑hoc, point‑in‑time automation so engineers could focus on higher‑value work.
Encore adopted Puppet Bolt, an agentless orchestrator, to automate debugging, patching, package installs and other one‑off operations. The change cut critical “Priority 1” incidents dramatically (one client dropped from multiple per day to one per year), reduced routine tasks from about 30 minutes to 90 seconds, improved code/version management and onboarding, and freed engineers to develop new features and revenue‑driving automation.
