WhyLabs Shifting Infrastructure to the Left

WhyLabs, an AI observability company, needed a more modern way to manage its cloud infrastructure as it grew. The team was using AWS CloudFormation and AWS CDK, but found them limiting for developer productivity, testing, and future multi-cloud plans. WhyLabs turned to Pulumi to support its software engineering-driven culture and simplify infrastructure management across its AWS-based stack.

With Pulumi Cloud Engineering Platform, WhyLabs adopted infrastructure as code in TypeScript, added code review and testing to its workflow, and integrated deployments into its existing GitLab CI/CD pipeline. Pulumi helped WhyLabs shift infrastructure left with unit tests, policy as code, integration tests, and automated security controls, enabling the team to ship changes faster and more reliably. The result was improved time-to-market, with features sometimes going from development to customer demo in about a week.
