Unity Technologies Modernizes Infrastructure Management

Unity’s Aura division, part of Unity Technologies, needed to modernize its developer platform and CI/CD systems. Their legacy Jenkins setup on Amazon ECS was difficult to maintain, slow to upgrade, and limited developer self-service. They turned to Pulumi to manage infrastructure as code using TypeScript and to better align infrastructure changes with their standard software release process.

Pulumi helped Unity migrate Jenkins to Amazon EKS, then replace it with GitHub Actions self-hosted runners, while also using Pulumi’s Automation API, Kubernetes support, and reusable libraries to enable self-serve infrastructure. The result was a major boost in efficiency: infrastructure provisioning time fell by about 80%, from weeks to hours, while developer autonomy, infrastructure integrity, and overall productivity improved significantly.
