Idaho Urologic Realizes Efficiency Gains, Reduces Costs and Earns Meaningful Use Incentives with Integrated Suite of Pulse Software

Idaho Urologic Institute, formed in 2005 from a merger of local practices, is a three-location urology group with 10 physicians, an outpatient surgery center, imaging, lab and radiation oncology services. The practice faced inconsistent, paper-based charting and billing and inefficient referral workflows, so leadership prioritized a move to an integrated electronic health record (EHR) and practice management system to standardize processes and eliminate lost paperwork.

Idaho Urologic implemented PulsePro practice management in 2005 and Pulse Complete EHR in 2007, configuring custom templates, using staged training and tablets at point of care, and integrating their in-house lab. The change delivered immediate chart availability and faster record sharing, saved about $42,000 per year in transcription, reduced reliance on temporary billing staff, sped claims processing, and enabled successful Meaningful Use attestation — with plans to expand patient portal use.
