St. Elizabeth Healthcare - Customer Case Study

St. Elizabeth Healthcare, based in Edgewood, Kentucky, serves more than 400,000 residents across the Greater Cincinnati area and struggled to organize a coordinated, timely response for STEMI (heart attack) patients amid multiple phone calls, handoffs, and variable EMS technology. As part of the Leadership Saves Lives initiative, St. Elizabeth adopted the Pulsara app to centralize communication and streamline prehospital and in-hospital coordination.

Pulsara’s solution instantly shares EKGs, alerts the on-call cardiologist and cath lab team, and provides a countdown clock and case reporting to all stakeholders, improving real-time coordination across roughly 40 EMS agencies. After implementing Pulsara, St. Elizabeth reduced first medical contact–to–artery-opening time by 30% (from 103 minutes in Q1 2016 to 72 minutes in January 2017), surpassing the AHA 90-minute benchmark and creating a stronger feedback loop for continuous improvement.
