St. Dominic Hospital - Customer Case Study

St. Dominic Hospital, a 400‑bed primary stroke center in Jackson, Miss. that treats about 1,100 stroke patients a year, needed to shave more time off its door‑to‑needle metric—moving beyond an average just under 60 minutes toward a 45‑minute goal. The hospital had a delayed activation process that typically waited until patient arrival and relied on time‑consuming phone calls, so St. Dominic adopted the Pulsara communication platform to enable earlier, coordinated notifications between EMS and in‑hospital teams.

Using Pulsara, EMS activates the stroke team en route and shares critical data so clinicians arrive prepared and make faster treatment decisions. After implementing Pulsara in June, average door‑to‑needle time dropped ~10 minutes, from ~54 to 44 minutes; cases meeting the door‑to‑puncture <120‑minute goal rose from 67.5% to 86.6% with an average door‑to‑puncture time of 98 minutes. EMS also began receiving near‑real‑time feedback on patient outcomes, improving communication and satisfaction.
