A Pulsara Case Study
CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Health System, a Joint Commission–certified primary stroke center in Longview, Texas, handles about 60 time‑sensitive stroke cases per month and faced critical delays from fragmented communications and unsynchronized clocks across EMS, ED, nursing, CT and neurology teams. To standardize timing and reduce miscommunication, the hospital adopted Pulsara’s mobile collaborative communication platform to replace pagers and phone calls and provide a single activation point and universal clock.
Pulsara’s device‑based app was rolled out across the care continuum, enabling simultaneous alerts and shared case information; by 2019 CHRISTUS Good Shepherd and its EMS partners had 472 stroke activations and measurable improvements: when EMS used Pulsara the stroke team was activated an average of 8 minutes before arrival versus 12 minutes after arrival without it (a 20‑minute improvement), average door‑to‑needle fell to 46 minutes from 110 minutes pre‑Pulsara (a 59% decrease), with 100% under 60 minutes, 87% under 45 minutes and 58% under 30 minutes. CHRISTUS Good Shepherd’s results earned recognition with the American Stroke Association Target Stroke Elite Plus Quality Achievement Award in 2019.
