UCHealth Memorial Hospital Central, a tertiary care Level I trauma center, struggled with a slow, manual alarm-dispatch and paging workflow that delayed critical prearrival communication and left clinicians without timely patient details or confirmation of message receipt. To streamline notifications and improve coordination, UCHealth extended use of the Pulsara healthcare communication platform to their trauma team.
Using Pulsara’s HIPAA-compliant patient channels for instant messaging, shared profiles, photos, and video, UCHealth sped notifications by an estimated 5–7 minutes, reduced trauma surgeon bedside time from 7.97 to 2.18 minutes (a 73% decrease), and cut door-to-CT for combined stroke-trauma cases from 22.3 to 13.5 minutes (39% decrease). Pulsara also decreased unit clerk workload, accelerated order entry, and improved multi-team coordination and situational awareness across the trauma workflow.
