Pulsara and FirstNet® Improve Patient Care and Treatment Times

North Texas Regional EMS (NTREMS) is a mobile-first emergent critical care ambulance service serving free-standing ERs and micro-hospitals across the Dallas–Fort Worth area. Facing frequent handoffs, information loss, and spotty cellular connectivity during time-sensitive transfers, NTREMS adopted Pulsara (a mobile care‑coordination app) alongside the FirstNet communications platform to connect every member of the care team and support their mobile-first mission.

Pulsara was implemented to replace pagers, radios, and fax machines and streamline alerts and handoffs, while FirstNet provided prioritized, always‑on network access to keep the app reliable in congested conditions. The combined Pulsara + FirstNet solution improved coordination and patient outcomes—NTREMS achieved a record door‑to‑door‑to‑needle time of 30 minutes (versus the 90‑minute national STEMI benchmark), enabling faster interventions and more efficient care.
