BBC worked with Pulsar Platform to better understand how audiences were engaging with news conversations across five categories: politics, business, migration, security and environment. The broadcaster needed a way to track how interest, engagement and tone varied globally across topics, especially in the US and India, and how different stories and audiences responded over time. Pulsar Platform used its Pulsar TRAC product to analyze audience conversation and editorial tonality.
Using Pulsar Platform’s social listening and audience intelligence approach, BBC identified which language and themes resonated most with audiences and how expectations changed as new stories developed. The analysis helped BBC prioritize editorial content on its platforms and better align coverage with audience value and interest. While no specific numerical KPI was provided, the case study reports improved understanding of audience priorities and more informed editorial decision-making.
