Virgin chooses Pulsant to keep websites always available

Virgin Red, part of the wider Virgin Group, needed its flagship websites (notably Virgin.com) to be always available to millions of international visitors, able to absorb traffic spikes from marketing campaigns and social activity, and to meet stringent security and cost-efficiency requirements. To address these challenges, Virgin Red engaged Pulsant to move from dedicated managed servers to a cloud-based hosting approach.

Pulsant implemented its Enterprise Cloud (branded The Virgin Cloud) and provided managed services including load balancing, security and colocation, migrating sites in late 2013 and hosting multiple virtual servers (for example Virgin Unite). Pulsant’s solution delivered improved service and reduced costs, giving Virgin Red the scalability to handle peak traffic, strong security controls and the high availability (targeted 100% uptime) the business required.
