thinkWhere partners with Pulsant to lead way in digital mapping market

thinkWhere, a leading UK provider of GIS and location-based services, needed to move its core product, Location Centre, from local installs to an online, scalable platform to support a national data store and a high-profile British Library contract. To meet the challenge of storing and serving very large, complex mapping datasets across multiple Legal Deposit Libraries, thinkWhere engaged Pulsant for cloud hosting and enterprise/private cloud services.

Pulsant’s system architects worked closely with thinkWhere to design and deploy an enterprise/private cloud solution—including a dedicated private cloud for the British Library project—capable of handling about 12 terabytes of slow-moving mapping data and scaling on demand. The Pulsant-hosted solution delivered improved service and growth for thinkWhere, maintained high performance and availability for Location Centre users, and enabled the company to expand its customer base and successfully manage the British Libraries workload.
