Case Study: Edinburgh International Festival achieves high-availability website and seamless ticketing with Pulsant Enterprise Cloud

A Pulsant Case Study

Preview of the Edinburgh International Festival Case Study

Pulsant supports the arts by providing enterprise cloud to Edinburgh International Festival

Edinburgh International Festival is an annual cultural event whose website (www.eif.co.uk) is critical for programme information and ticketing, attracting 131,819 unique visitors (184,941 overall) in 2013. To meet strict requirements for resilience, failover and capacity—especially during peaks when up to 50% of tickets sell in the first six to eight weeks—the festival engaged Pulsant for hosting and cloud services.

Pulsant migrated EIF from a private cloud to its enterprise cloud and worked with the festival and its design agency to deploy hardware load balancing, caching, application and database servers and improved connectivity to the externally hosted ticketing system. The result was a responsive, media-rich site with improved performance and uptime during high-traffic periods, better mobile experience and scalable capacity to support ticket sales and future growth, delivered by Pulsant.
