A PubNub Case Study

Stageit + PubNub Connect Music Fans, Artists in Real time

Stageit is an online concert venue that lets artists broadcast live interactive shows where fans can chat, tip, and buy tickets in real time. The company faced scaling and reliability problems: its SocketIO/Node.js and XMPP stack became unreliable beyond ~400 concurrent chatters, causing downtime and limiting audience interaction.

Stageit replaced its backend with the PubNub Real-Time Network, writing a Chat Wrapper (using Goliath) to handle business and security logic and fully removing XMPP. The new architecture provided unlimited scalability, wider device/browser support, redundancy/high availability, and easy-to-use APIs—successfully tested to five times normal capacity—so Stageit now delivers a reliable real-time experience and can focus on growing the business.
