RallySafe provides in-car safety, timing and tracking for competitive motorsports by streaming vehicle status and hazard warnings from embedded modules to Race Control and mobile/web apps. As their events scaled, their custom, query-based real-time infrastructure became overloaded—causing ISP crashes and unacceptable latency—so they needed a fast, reliable way to move high volumes of GPS, g-force and timing data in real time.

RallySafe adopted PubNub Data Streams to switch from query polling to true streaming between their Azure-hosted gateways (GSM and satellite) and client apps. The integration was quick and lightweight, dramatically reducing traffic on core servers, increasing processing capacity, lowering server count and maintenance, and keeping location, timing and safety updates delivered reliably and with minimal latency.
