Logitech, a global provider of personal computer and tablet accessories, needed to build a secure and reliable way to stream data for its Harmony home automation system. The challenge was to enable real-time communication between a smartphone application and the home hub to allow users to control and monitor devices remotely. To power this capability, Logitech used the PubNub Data Stream Network.

PubNub provided the real-time infrastructure to enable away-from-home control and monitoring through the smartphone app and to power the Harmony API for third-party integrations. The solution ensured reliable and secure communication, giving users peace of mind to control devices like lights and thermostats from anywhere. Logitech found that using PubNub was more cost-effective than building an in-house solution, as it saved significant resources that would have been devoted to operating and maintaining a high-performance real-time backend.
