Case Study: Hearo achieves real-time, scalable remote patient monitoring with PubNub

A PubNub Case Study

Preview of the Hearo Case Study

Hearo Helps Remote Patients Live Independently

Hearo, a Springfield-based provider-first remote patient monitoring company, builds sensor-driven platforms and 24/7 voice/video connections so patients can stay independent while speaking directly with their care teams. As co‑founder and sole developer Myke Bates expanded the platform, he hit limits with SignalR while trying to roll out complex multi-user messaging and feared ongoing scalability and reliability issues—especially for real-time alerts and critical sensor data—just before a key tradeshow.

Turning to PubNub, Hearo leveraged extensive client libraries and built-in multi‑party messaging to launch the feature overnight, saving 80+ hours of development time. PubNub now signals and connects Hearo’s IoT sensors and apps, preserves offline sensor events for later delivery, ensures real-time alerts, calls, and messages across desktop and mobile, and gives Hearo the scalability and future-proofing needed to expand usage and increase patient independence.
