NCDOT Centralizes Data and Standardizes Its Public Engagement Process with PublicInput

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) needed to centralize public engagement data and standardize processes across hundreds of projects managed by dozens of consulting firms. Their challenge was to aggregate resident input efficiently, maintain transparency, and avoid the errors inherent in manual workflows. To address this, NCDOT partnered with PublicInput to implement their PublicInput Platform.

PublicInput provided a centralized Constituent Relationship Manager (CRM) that automated NCDOT's engagement processes, capturing data for future communications and enabling targeted outreach. The solution streamlined workflows, saving time and resources while integrating tools like a new CBO Database module. As a result, PublicInput helped NCDOT broaden its effective reach, close information gaps, and build a reliable source of truth for stakeholder engagement, even capturing previously hard-to-reach audiences like ferry riders.
