A Public-i Case Study
Buckinghamshire Council Unitary Authority approached Public-i to improve webcasting of committee meetings held in the Oculus at The Gateway, Aylesbury. The council’s existing 10‑year‑old analogue Sony EVI D70 cameras were producing low‑definition, dark images in the room’s low light, and were slow and noisy—so Public‑i was asked to advise and upgrade the main meeting room camera system.
Public‑i replaced the old kit with Avonic CM73 IP cameras and a new webcasting encoder integrated into the existing AV rack, tying the cameras to Beyerdynamic Quinta Revoluto microphones and Public‑i’s Connect webcasting/CameraControl tools. The upgrade delivered full HD 1080p60 video with improved low‑light SNR, 30x optical zoom, quieter operation and a useful Tally light, while simplifying cabling to Ethernet + SDI and allowing a single operator to control the whole meeting from the Connect tablet—measurable improvements in image quality, usability and installation efficiency enabled by Public‑i.
