Vienna improves mobility with high-end traffic information

ITS Vienna Region needed a better way to answer real-time and future traffic questions for Vienna, such as travel times, congestion levels, and the impact of incidents or construction. The organization had been using PTV products for years and, in 2014, chose PTV Group’s PTV Optima to improve its traffic information and operational decision-making.

PTV Group implemented PTV Optima together with PTV Visum as a single-source solution that fuses real-time data from detectors, floating car data, traffic messages, and public transport sources with an offline traffic model. The system updates every seven minutes and provides reliable forecasts up to 60 minutes ahead, supporting Vienna’s traffic control center and the national journey planner AnachB with more accurate, timely traffic information.
