SEQ delivers ice cream with PTV Route Optimiser

SEQ Ice Cream, a distributor of Unilever ice cream in Queensland, faced the challenge of planning efficient delivery routes across more than 150 postcodes while preserving strong driver-customer relationships. With 13 vehicles serving over 1,600 customers, the company needed a more system-driven approach after staff turnover exposed gaps in route knowledge. SEQ Ice Cream turned to PTV Group and its PTV Route Optimiser to improve fleet planning and scheduling.

PTV Group helped SEQ Ice Cream model 10 months of sales data in just two days and use historical sales, driver knowledge, and seasonal factors to rebuild routes from scratch. The result was a more efficient network that increased customer face time while keeping 80% of trips with the same driver after the reroute. SEQ Ice Cream also reported that the initial reroute worked straight away and was 90–95% correct, giving the business a strong foundation for further improvements in data quality and seasonal planning.
