PTV Optima provides real-time speed calculation for entire Czech road network

The Road and Motorway Directorate of the Czech Republic (RSD CR) needed real-time visibility into traffic conditions across all roads in its TMC network, along with near real-time turn ratios at intersections. To address this challenge, RSD CR turned to PTV Group and its PTV Optima real-time traffic management software, using raw floating car data from private fleets.

PTV Group implemented PTV Optima with data integration support from Inrix and VARS, enabling the system to calculate speeds and turn ratios from multiple data sources and feed the customer’s traffic management interface. Deployed in 2019 as part of the Czech National Traffic Information Center, the solution now processes FCD from up to 150,000 vehicles every minute and provides operators with real-time information on speed, travel time, delays, and other key road attributes, supporting national traffic optimization and future forecasting.

RSD CR
