How STS drives 80,000 students in Dubai while keeping costs down

STS Transports, which moves more than 80,000 students daily to and from 80+ schools in Dubai using 2,800+ buses, needed a better way to plan complex school transport routes while meeting strict trip-duration, safety, and capacity rules. Manual scheduling was especially difficult at the start of the academic year and during the Covid-19 period, when bus capacity had to be managed more tightly. PTV Group’s PTV Route Optimiser was used to help address these challenges.

PTV Group configured PTV Route Optimiser with STS’s requirements and supported extensive testing and training. The solution optimized routes, meeting points, ETAs, and fleet deployment, helping STS improve bus capacity utilization by about 10%, reduce travel times, lower the number of buses needed, and cut kilometers traveled by more than 10%. These gains also reduced fuel use and CO2 emissions, improved punctuality and customer satisfaction, and helped STS win new business in the corporate travel sector.
